Do I need a Website for my Freelance Writing Services?
When I started my freelance writing career more than five years ago one of my top priorities was to create a website. At the time I did not know much about web design, so I opted to hire somebody to create my site. While I don’t rely much on this site anymore, it still brings in a few clients every year.
Believe it or not, many people contact me asking if they really need a website for their freelance writing services. This may not be required, but in my opinion it is very important. Without a site you are missing out on many benefits.
I use my freelance writing “service site†for several things. Above all else, it is a place I can send potential clients to check out my services, testimonials, etc. Along with this, it also lists out all my contact information including my phone number. In short, it gives people the chance to get in touch with me via email or phone. The more people I speak with the more work I receive.
Although I have never been a big fan, some people include samples on their website. I prefer to email relevant samples after speaking with a potential client, but this does not mean it is the right way of doing things. If you want to add a few samples more power to you. Just make sure it is your best work.
In today’s day and age I strongly urge every freelance writer to have a website. This year alone, I have assisted five members of my freelance writing course with creating a basic site. It does not have to be anything special. As long as it looks professional and includes all the right information you are well on your way.
Don’t hold yourself back because you are too lazy to create a site or too cheap to hire the right help.
